Perhaps all he needs to do is to add an alpha channel? – norok2 Sep 12 '18 at 13:21 With 16 bit Photoshop does the same thing but assigns two to the power of 16 shades per color channel or 65,536 and with 32 bit images it assigns two to the power of 32 or about 4 billion shades. Visually the result is color blends more seamlessly together without banding patterns being visible as the number of bits used increases. However, Fireworks provides an option for a PNG-32. Why? Well, Photoshop and Illustrator produce PNG-32’s if you choose full alpha transparency option on a PNG-24.
I was able to export from Gimp to PNG with an alpha channel and background areas transparent. But I exported twice, and one PNG was precision 8 bits and the other was precision 16 bits. Both were RGB with alpha channel.

ZIP. Standard lossless compression using Zlib, operating on 16 Nevertheless, given PNG's unique feature set and its unfamiliarity to many of those who could make the best use of those features, I feel that it is worth the risk to explore in depth an application that appears to have, as of early 1999, the best PNG support of anything on the market: Macromedia's Fireworks 1.0, available for 32-bit Windows and Macintosh. You can save 16-bits-per-channel and high dynamic range (HDR) 32-bits-per-channel images as PSD files. Photoshop 2.0 format (Mac OS) You can use this format to open an image in Photoshop 2.0 or to export an image to an application supporting only Photoshop 2.0 files. But to complicate things the ‘bit depth’ setting when editing images, specifies the number of bits used for each color channel – bits per channel (BPC).

Hi everyone, I have a PNG file which is 16bt per channel (total 48bit), but when I check the bit-depth with openCV using depth() it keeps returning CV_8U (zero). int imgDepth = cvImage.depth(); Can someone please provide me with a solution to this problem, or at least explain what I'm doing wrong? The TIFF format supports various bit depths, for example 32 bits per channel for a total of 96 bits per pixel. When describing bit depth, state what you're describing to leave no room for ambiguity. Creating a digital painting or animation in 8-bit is not a good idea, as you are limiting yourself to 256 luminance steps per channel, which is not a lot. Using 16-bit will already give you 65 thousand (32 thousand in Photoshop), which is quite a lot more.

To take full advantage of GIMP's internal 32-bit floating point processing, choose 32-bit floating point precision and also choose the Linear light channel encoding. If you are editing on a machine with limited RAM, or if you are editing very large images and layer stacks, consider using 16-bit floating point or integer precision.

32 Bits/Channel mode may be the mode of choice for high-end photographic work in the future, but at the moment Photoshop doesn’t support it sufficiently to make it a practical choice. Another requirement for getting good-quality output is the ability to preserve the full tonal range of your images as you edit them in Photoshop. Right, right. Then the problem may be the constant..

Pixels are always stored in RGBA order, and the alpha channel is not premultiplied. I understand that a 32 bit PNG means 8 bits each for R, G, B and Alpha. I added an alpha channel under "channels" tab thing.

If your PNG image is 32 bit you will see: Channel depth: red: 8-bit green: 8-bit blue: 8-bit alpha: 8-bit. However this answer is not complete because 8-bit color also shows 8 bits for Red, Green and Blue, only a color palette is used to limit the number of selections (like in good old Windows 2.0). RGB images with 8‑bits per channel (Bits/Channel or bpc) are sometimes called 24‑bit images (8 bits x 3 channels = 24 bits of data for each pixel). In addition to 8 Bits/Channel images, Photoshop can also work with images that contain 16 or 32 Bits/Channel..
CMYK, Greyscale, PANTONE© and LAB colour spaces • Full 16 and 32-bit per channel editing • Work with all standard formats like PNG, TIFF, JPG, GIF, SVG,
Both were RGB with alpha channel. Question: For Google Play Store, does it matter if the bit precision is 8 or 16 bits?
An image that has a bit depth of 8 and three color channels (such as red, green, and blue) uses 24 bits per pixel (bpp), which provides 2²⁴ (16,777,216) different colors per pixel. Compression Level – Specifies the image compression level for the .png file type. Bits per Channel – Specifies the bit depth, i.e. the amount of data per channel for the .png, .sgi, .exr, and .tif file types. The following options are possible depending on the file type: 8 bits 16 bits 16 bits (half-float) 32 bits 32 bits (full-float) By far the most common format is to store 8 bits (one byte) for each channel, which is 32 bits for each pixel. The orderof these four bytes in memory can differ, which can lead to confusion when image data is exchanged. These encodings are often denoted by the four letters in some order (e.g.
